Deepavali-the festival of lights

Hindus have a large number of festivals. Right from Shravana masa they will be celebrating one or the other festival. Of course by the time Deepavali comes they may be bored of festivals.
But each and every festival has its own purpose and style of celebration. Each festival not only  enriches our culture but also contributes to the growth of good feeling in people by bringing a sort of intimacy and haromony at the time of festival. Speaking about Deepavali, it is the festival when we all- relatives and friends meet together and wish each other good luck.  We distribute sweets to our nearest and dearest as a token of love. Moreover during this festival we light the jyotis and decorate our house with 'diyas'. The festival of lights bring  glitter to our house, to our minds, and decorate the sourroundings thus eradicating darkness, the sign of ignorance and sorrow. Thus, as a token of our enhancing soul, as a token of happinesss we are experiencing in our present lives, as a token of gratitude towards God for giving us  good life we have to light the diyas and  celebrate the festival.
There is a tinge of artisitic talent  in each and every work we do today.Even to light diyas we have 'Akasha buttis'. There are varieties of 'pranatis' where beautiful design and  and fine workmanship can be found. Thus the festival gives the people a chance to exhibit their artisitc talent. Thus various people celebrate the festival in their own styles to their satisfaction. As a result there is variety in the way of celebration from place to place. Hence the festival naturally contributes to the cultural heritage of India which is a land of many cultures.
Let us celebrate the festival in a befitting way with zeal and enthusiasm. Let us light the torch of our cultural  heritage and hand it over to our future generation to take care of it in future.

salutations

The whole universe is pervaded by the cosmic spirit (vishwa chethana) right from the birth of the universe. It does not leave even a single speck from its hold. The same vishwa chethana is encircling me too. Hence my small effort to know myself as a part of that cosmic power. In this effort I know I am more to receive than to give. Just I intend to share my little knowledge with master minds and enhance my understanding. Hence my first salutations to all the mighty minds  who help me to enrich my treasure of knowledge. I humbly request them to correct me wherever I need corrections and help me to grow.
My humble pranams to the  divine spirit residing in you all.
